Womanly Magazine is an independent print and digital publication featuring accessible, accurate health information alongside visual and literary art that centers the lived experiences of women and nonbinary individuals. We believe art is a vital tool for sharing preventive health knowledge and creating space for collective empathy across health, generations, and cultural experiences.
“ I envision this issue of Womanly exposing a common thread that might remind us that we can not only get through this, but we can get through it together. - Rachel Cargle”
Our ninth issue will explore the theme of loss, grief, and healing. Created in partnership with writer, entrepreneur, and innovator Rachel Cargle — founder and president of The Loveland Foundation, which provides free therapy to Black women and girls — this issue will examine the complex landscape of grief in its many forms.
Through illustrations, poetry, essays, reported articles, and photography, we will engage both traditional understandings of grief — such as death and dying — and expanded interpretations, including transgender experiences, climate loss, political upheaval, societal transformation, and other personal and collective ruptures.
With this issue, we aim to offer meaningful resources, thoughtful reflection, and supportive pathways that help individuals live with, navigate, and move through grief — and ultimately discover routes toward healing.
The issue is set be release internationally this fall in print. Sign up for our newsletter for updates and how to subscribe.
