Womanly Mag Special Issue: High Blood Pressure

Womanly Mag Special Issue: High Blood Pressure

$12.00

In this first-ever special issue, Womanly partnered with the Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA) MFA in Illustration Practice to focus on the topic of high blood pressure, also known as hypertension, in the city of Baltimore. The goal of this and future special issues of Womanly Magazine will be to more closely target a specific health crisis and provide the most accessible and direct information we can to help particularly hard-hit communities.

In this issue you will find:

  • Information on how to prevent, treat, and control high blood pressure.

  • Articles exploring advocating for yourself and navigating the U.S. health care system.

  • Interviews with leaders in cardiology and heart health like Dr. Sherita Hill Golden, Vice President and Chief Diversity Officer at Johns Hopkins Medicine

  • Art and illustrations by MICA students

“As the number one cause of death in Baltimore, addressing heart disease is a top priority for the Baltimore City Health Department. We are committed to leveraging resources like Womanly Magazine that provide residents with accessible, non-judgmental information on how to understand and manage conditions like high blood pressure, high cholesterol, or diabetes in order to prevent heart disease.”

-Letitia Dzirasa, MD, Commissioner of Health for Baltimore City Health Department
