About the Artist
Mär Martinez is an artist specializing in sculptural painting. Her work dissects dominance, aggression and power dynamics through the lens of a culturally-enforced binary system. She received a BFA in Studio Art and a BA in Art History at the University of Central Florida, and is pursuing her MFA in Painting at Hunter College in New York.
Martinez was the 2024 - 2025 recipient of the Fulbright Creative Arts Research Award, where she created a body of paintings about the handweaving process. She is affiliated with the Sadberk Hanım Museum and the Mirmar Sinan Fine Arts University, where she conducted this handwoven textiles and natural dye processes research in Istanbul, Turkiye.
