About the Filmmaker
J.J. Anderson (she/her) is a self-taught producer and director based in Los Angeles. As a filmmaker, J.J.’s work is rooted in culture, community, and generational rituals. She is dedicated to handling stories with care and attention to produce powerful, authentic, and resonant representations of women and people of color on screen.
Since co-founding HRDWRKER, J.J. has directed content for companies like ANDSCAPE, Phenomenal, Slack, and more. Her films JONAH (2018) and Positive Space (2020)—a groundbreaking short featuring four Black women museum curators in Los Angeles working to reimagine the art world—are now streaming on Amazon Prime and Shondaland.
