It’s Black History Month! And we’re excited to kick off this month-long celebration by highlighting the incredible work of filmmaker and cinematographer, Deanna Griffin. Based in Atlanta, Griffin is a passionate creator dedicated to shining a light on the stories of underrepresented communities through short-form storytelling.

In addition to her creative endeavors, she is also the lead team producer and co-founder of Colour Co., a production equipment rental company and creative collective. Colour Co. was designed to empower individuals from diverse backgrounds by providing access to high-quality equipment and resources for storytelling.

"To Be A Black Girl “In America”," (2020) is an exploration into what it means to be a Black girl in America. This powerful film features a voiceover by Dominique Viard, adding depth to Griffins powerful response to a question posed — what is it to be a Black girl?
